today's tip is about the worst part of school. . . homework :( hopefully this advice will help you do it faster, better, and more efficiently! ♥
~ WHEN ♥ if you do a sport or have another type of daily after school commitment, then you'll probably have to get your homework started the minute you get home from said activity. however, if you have more free time in the afternoon, then you have a choice. some of us like to do our homework as soon as we get home from school - this is good if you have a ton of work to do. you'll already be in "working mode" from having been at school all day. i know that other people get restless after a long school day and would rather take a break from working and do something else, then fully concentrate on homework later on. i can't say that one of these tactics is better or more efficient than the other - you just have to see what works for you. a helpful tip is to set a time to do your homework every day, whether it be right after school or a few hours later. that way you'll never find yourself having to stay up all night working.
~ WHERE ♥ where you do homework is important, obviously. choose somewhere quiet where you can concentrate. avoid rooms with TV/music on, even if it's just in the background, because ultimately these things will distract you. stay away from computers as well, unless you're working on an assignment you need one for. the temptation to check facebook "just for a moment" could lead to a half hour of distraction. turn your phone off while doing homework. pick a well lit room with a comfortable place to sit. if your bedroom/house doesn't cut it, then go to your town or school library. these are great places to study.
~ SUPPLIES ♥ before you start working, make sure you have all the supplies you'll need. sometimes running downstairs to grab a glue stick or a hole puncher can turn into a long discussion with a family member or a phone call with a friend. keep supplies you use often in your work space, so you'll have it there whenever you decide to do homework. the only exception to this rule is if you know exactly where something is - for example, if you're doing a project a know that you need markers, which are downstairs in the cabinet, the two minute break to go get them in the middle of your project can be a nice breather. just make sure you're not searching around the entire house to find something - that's when it turns into a distraction, and should have been taken care of before you started.
~ HOMEWORK BUDDiES? ♥ don't assume you'll be able to finish your work with a friend. even if you have the same assignment, try doing it separately then comparing answers after. friends can be incredibly distracting, especially when neither of you really wants to work in the first place. if you have to do homework at a friends house, set aside time for talking and laughing, then time for silent work. it may seem a little strict, but you'll get everything done much faster and you'll do a better job.
~ KNOW WHAT'S iMPORTANT ♥ you should always do your homework (even the smallest assignments add up.) don't get into the habit of not doing it, ever. just know which assignments you need to spend more time on and which ones you don't. for example, don't spend three hours on a math assignment when you know your teacher never checks to see if you did the homework and you know you can catch up on it tomorrow. devote that time for your other, more important work. distinguishing different assignments importance may sound a bit complicated now, but trust me, as you go through school it will get easier!
♥ requests are open girlies (:
